Mooncakes are a traditional dessert eaten during the Mid Autumn Festival, or Moon Festival. Mooncakes originated from China, but the dessert has spread to Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, and many other countries. There are many different types of mooncakes. Mooncakes are made with different shapes, fillings, designs, and outer crust, depending on where the moon cake is from. The type my class made was a snowy mooncake, with a red bean paste filling. A snowy mooncake is a type of mooncake that can be eaten right after making, which means you don’t need to cook it.
I think making mooncakes in class was really fun, but some things could be improved. First of all, I think the activity is too short. We just spent the last 15 min of class making mooncake. Also, I want to do more. I think instead of just formi the moon cake, we shoud get our own plates, and then get a little bit of filling, and some dough, and stuff.
I hope this information helpful and I hope you learn something new about mooncakes.
At first, when I realized that we were making snow moon cakes, I was very happy because we didn't have classes. But when we started, I was really happy to make mooncakes because I never made mooncakes. I like to pack it into a ball, then flatten it and wrap it around the red bean ball. My favorite part may be stamping. With so many designs to choose from, I ended up with a flower. First, you must put the seal design in it. Next, you put the red bean balls and wrapping paper in the stamp. Finally, you pushed the stamp hard, but it is not too difficult. It
is a good thing not only to learn how to speak and write Chinese, but also to learn culture. I really want to make snow moon cake and thank all the volunteers.。。
Every year, Chinese people celebrate the Mid - Autumn Festival by eating mooncake and making lanterns.
On Sunday, when it was the break time of Chinese class at Chinese school, I went outside to help my mom set up the mooncake activity. I taped some cloth down on the stone tables. After the break, the teacher and some parent volunteers took my classmates and I to the tables outside to make mooncake. My teacher gave us the wrapper of the mooncake and we rolled it into a ball. We squashed the ball until it was flat and round and we placed the filling inside. I put it in a molder and I pressed it down. Then I ate it.
When I heard that the whole class was making snow mooncakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival I was very excited because that would be the first time I ate a snow mooncake, and the first time I made a mooncake.
When we watched the video about how to make snow mooncakes and went down the stairs to make the mooncakes outside I couldn’t wait to get started. When I was in the line waiting to get the gloves and get a plate to make the mooncakes with, I spotted a green one that
was really close to the place I was standing, so when got my gloves, I ran to that spot. My sister Sarah also sat next to me with yellow mooncake batter on her plate.
After we started to make the mooncakes, I rolled my green mooncake batter and then flattened it out. I put my red bean paste on it and closed the seams. I rolled it around until it was a ball, put flour on it, and then stamped it into a mooncake shape. My sister wanted me to do hers but when I flattened it out and gave it to her she dropped it and had to get a new one. We made it again and this time we did it and stamped a flower onto it.
Then, after we finished, we saved our mooncakes to put in the refrigerator at our house to make it taste better, and when we finally got to eat it, I loved it!
Last Sunday, at Chinese school, we made moon cakes, or a round, soft, brownie like dessert the Chinese eat on their Mid-Autumn Festival. I really liked it. First，we prepared the dough, then, we put it in the filling, and shaped it by pressing it in a plastic device. The experience was fun, particularly because we got to miss our quiz.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important holidays in China. It takes place on August fifteenth on the lunar calendar. Its celebration includes making and eating moon cakes, but also much more.
The Chinese school activity was enjoyable not only because of missing a quiz, but also because we got to do something that wasn't memorizing Chinese characters, which is a bit uncommon in Chinese School. Overall, I learned a lot about the Mid-autumn festival and did an interesting activity. I hope we get to do something like this again sometime soon.
On Sunday at Chinese school, we made mooncakes filled with red bean paste. Mooncakes are essential to celebrate Chinese Mid-Autumn Holiday. The exact date of the holiday varies every year but in lunar calendar it always happens on the 15th day of the 8th month. This year, 2018, it is on September 24th. The mooncakes we made consisted of mochi coat with a red bean filling. First, we put on gloves and we took a filling and a dough ball. Then we folded the filling inside the dough ball and pressed it in a mold. Then, after we finished making the mooncakes, we ate them. They were really delicious, and I appreciated the Chinese tradition. Thank you Huaxia school for the mooncakes!
When making moon cake, the experience that you have is one of a kind. Moon cake is eaten on the 8th month and the 15th day of the lunar calendar. This day is also called the Lunar Festival. On this day, families gather together, sometimes make moon cake, and obviously, eat it. This year, I got the privilege of making some moon cake.
Last week, we made some dou sha , moon cakes. The wrapping part and dou sha parts were already made. We first flattened out the dough like a pancake but made sure that it was thick enough, so it won't overflow. Then we put the stuffing on the dough, wrapping it around so that everything is even. Finally, we stamped the moon cake, using a pushing thingy.
To summarize, making moon cakes is super fun, especially when you get to eat it. There are may different types of moon cakes, and you can have fun trying all of them. The Lunar Festival is a great way to spend family time, including making moon cakes.
While we were making moon cakes, the process of making them was that first you made the dough, and then the filling. You start by flattening the dough, and then wrap the filling with dough. Then when it's a ball, put the ball of filling and dough into a mold. Press down onto the top and then eject the moon cake.
When I made them, I thought it was really fun to make them into their design. I got a heart shape on both of my moon cakes. They were a bit squishy and they tasted sweet. The process was easy.
The second one I made was really fragile. I thought that the activity was fun, even though someone pressed too hard on the mold, and his moon cake came oozing out. Someone else also dropped his cake. I made two moon cakes.
When we went out to make moon cake we got in line, chose a color wrapping, and a filling (red beans), and made a flat circle with the wrapping. You then place the filling in the middle and wrap over filling. take your mold and put flour in it so it wont stick. You then out the ball into the mold and push.
I liked making moon cake. It was fun, tasty, and a nice thing for us to do at the end of class. We all made one, then when we still have some materials left, we got to make one more (for someone else...).
I think we should to this activity every year!!! The kids will love doing it.
When I first made moon cake last week, I felt happy as I had learnt something new. I thought that all the food I would ever make will not taste good, but in the end of making the moon cake experience, I ate my moon cake and I liked it, too.
While I was making the moon cake, the moon cake looked deformed, but after I stamped my moon cake, it looked very nice. I was very happy with my creation and I was even happier after I ate it.
