"Dancing Path" director Yang Weixin devoted nine years to filming, faithfully presenting the dilemma of the education system and personal career faced by ballet dancers in Taiwan. He expressed his gratitude to the teachers and friends in the field of ballet dance over the years for allowing him to enter professional dance venues at home and abroad for free and selfless records. In addition, the director shared that the opportunity to make the film was due to meeting Guo Rongan, the first Taiwanese who was selected to study at the long-established Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Russia and became curious about her future development. Therefore, Yang Weixin did not know ballet at all from the beginning. After long-term records, interviews, and privately supplementing his knowledge about the art field, he hopes that by understanding what professional ballet is and what nutrients are needed, he can truly nurture ballet and take root in a country, and then convey this theme to the audience in the form of a documentary.
Regarding the camera movement technique in the film, the director emphasized that the filming process tried to dilute his own sense of existence, and mostly used long shots to shoot in all corners, so that the recorder would not be disturbed. In addition, he has cultivated a tacit understanding with dancers for a long time. He has observed the movement of dancers' rehearsal performances, so his works present a highly natural style.
Yang Weixin has already started preparations for the Taiwan release of "Dancing Trail". He will also complete the screening through crowdfunding. He hopes that "Dancing Trail" will not only be recognized by American audiences, but also continue to move Taiwanese audiences.
