We Chinese in AmericaMedia Editor Tang Zhao, July 14, 2022 Many people worry that the confined space of flying will greatly increase the chance of contracting the COVID -19. Intensive care physician Huang Xuan shared the research on Facebook. He pointed out that "in air travel, the chance of being infected by COVID-19 is much lower than when you are in an office, classroom, supermarket or MRT." As long as you are prepared for two things, you can still arrange a trip abroad. (Photo from World News Network)

Huang Xuan said in the post that the study analyzed the data of nearly 140 million air passengers and found 2,866 passengers who were confirmed to be infected in air travel. On average, one in every million air passengers gets infected, and the rate is much lower than on the ground. The reasons are as follows:

1.The ventilation system in the cabin is of a very high level, which is much higher than the ventilation rate of the space we live in;

2.The cabin faces the back of the seat, which reduces the spread of face-to-face contact;

3.Before boarding the plane, most of the Negative certificates will be required to board the plane;

4.The procedures in the airport have been greatly simplified, including check-in and boarding, and many do not need to contact people;

5.Many procedures and facilities in the cabin have been improved to prevent infection

6.Everyone who takes the flight has real names and contact information, and it is easy to find someone if there is any change.

Huang Xuan explained that the current Omicron virus spreads very fast, and the incubation period is shortened. When the virus has penetrated into the community, it may be infected at any time. Infected inbound passengers are likely to be infected after completing the inspection report and before boarding the plane, and then take the test after disembarking.

Even so, Huang Xuan still reminded that if you want to go abroad, you must pay special attention to "two things". That is, "masks" and "vaccines". Wearing masks correctly can still effectively reduce the chance of infection; and many countries and airlines require vaccination before they can travel by air. Instead of "it's not that as soon as the borders open, you get on the plane fast, you're safe."
